Services Utility: Still Image Service Service | Display Name (?): | Still Image Service | | Short Name (?): | StiSvc | | Executable (?): | stisvc.exe | | Library (?): | None. | | Depends On (?): | None. | | Supports (?): | None. | | Description (?): | None. | | OS (?): | 2000 Professional, 2000 Server | | Startup (?): | | Default | Home | Workstation | Server | Minimal | Tweaked | Automatic | | Automatic | Automatic | Automatic | Disabled | Disabled | Disabled | Disabled | | Explanation (?): | The still image service is used by Windows for scanners and digital cameras. This service loads drivers for these devices when plugged in and it monitors for events related to these devices. It should be noted that many cameras typically connect to your Windows computer through USB and they normally load as a external USB hard-drive. This means that no fancy drivers are needed. But, if your camera, or a scanner, has advanced feature then it could use this service. This may be used by such things as panel buttons on a scanner that notify Windows that you want to scan into a program. This service can be disabled if you do not have any devices that use it and in fact it will most likely on appear in the services list if it is needed. |

"Oh yes. That's how it starts. But the road from legitimate suspicion to rampant paranoia is very much shorter then we think... For the first link the chain is formed. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably." --Captain Jean Luc Picard (ST TNG, Drumhead)
