The Norton/Symantec Antivirus Client service allows Norton/Symantec Antivirus to run in the background on a Windows NT based computer. This service provides real-time scanning abilities and provides elevated privileges so that on demand scans can be executed with proper authorization. Without this service the program cannot scan for viruses as it is intended and you should leave it to automatic.
