NUI stands for natural user interface, and represents a collection of API features for speech recognition, hand-writing recognition and intelligent computer adapation. The features of this service are aimed mainly at servers, but the ability to perform speech tasks on a Windows computer would be a step towards the future. The intention of this service is to receive commands from various programs, and to act as a monitor for user instructions through non-traditional means. These features are intended to be heavily interconnected with WinFS so that computers could be searched much more easily, such as on a science fiction television show. This service is not required for Longhorn and as such it could be disabled. |

"Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception." --Mark Twain, The Mysterious Stranger
