Explanation (?):

The Hummingbird Inetd service is nonstandard to Windows and is installed with the commercial package of the Hummingbird HostExplorer. HostExplorer is a very highly evolved toolkit for Internet communications and provides services for FTP, 3270 and many other text type protocols. This service is installed by default with the program and provides common daemons (services) for such things as Identd. If you do not need to run response daemons like this then it is completely useless and very bad to run these as they leave your computer more vulnerable to intrusion. If you have this service then I would highly recommend disabling this service unless you know you need it.

"Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception." --Mark Twain, The Mysterious Stranger
