If the service is stopped, most COM+-based components will not function properly. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. | | OS (?): | 2000 Professional, XP Home/Professional, Vista Home/Business, 2000 Server, Server 2003, Vista Server | | Startup (?): | | Default | Home | Workstation | Server | Minimal | Tweaked | Automatic | | Manual | Manual | Manual | Automatic | Manual | Manual | Disabled | | Explanation (?): | The COM+ System Application service is the service through which the COM+ Event System works through. Normally the COM+ event system is always running and calls upon the system application service for particular tasks. For understanding the COM+ Event System please read the information pertaining to it. Since this service is so important it is very important that you do not disable it. Doing so may cause your computer to not function as it should. Many programs use this service, especially Microsoft based Internet services such as IIS or ASP. You should leave this service set to manual. If you would like to speed your computer up for COM+ events then setting this to automatic would do so at the cost of a small amount of RAM. Setting this to automatic is generally a very good idea on servers. |

"Why, of course, the people don't want war. Why would some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best that he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece. Naturally, the common people don't want war; neither in Russia nor in England nor in America, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship or a Parliament or a Communist dictatorship[...] Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country." - Herman Goering: Intelligence office interview at Nuremberg, 1946/4/18
